Situated in a leafy suburb overlooking Cork’s inner harbor Emerson House Cork is a fine example of a late Georgian townhouse. Whilst built in the early 1800s and retain many period feature from window panes through to floors, doors, and fireplaces we also offer modern conveniences including WIFI. We also have private parking and it is just about a 10-minute stroll to the center of town.

 

The larger rooms are at the front of the house and have commanding views out over the city and across to the opposite hill about 10 miles away as befitting a former resident of the 1880s Maj. General A. Stubbs.

 

Indeed the Victorian novelist William Makepeace Thackeray did note in his travel journal in the 1840s the “pretty height that overlooks the town and the river and where the artist that comes Corkward may find many subjects for their pencil and from which you can see the prettiest prospects possible.” Breakfast encompasses the range from fresh fruit salad, yoghurt, and muesli to full Irish. The emphasis being on homemade and locally produced where possible.
