Vuonna 2019 muodostui Pori Pride -työryhmä, joka koostuu järjestöaktiiveista, joiden sydäntä lähellä on tasa-arvon puolustaminen ja seksuaali- ja sukupuolivähemmistöjen tilanteen parantaminen niin Porissa kuin muuallakin Suomessa. Tämä työryhmä päätti aloittaa valmistelut Pride-mielenilmauksen järjestämiseksi Porissa kesällä 2019 ja kuinka ollakaan – pian päiväksi päätettiin 17.8. Porin kiireisen tapahtumakesän hiljetessä. Mutta tarkoitus ei ole jättää tuota päivää hiljaiseksi, vaan pitää meteliä LGTIQA+ -asioiden puolesta.
